This morning, students across our Ashington and Bedlington sites have celebrated receiving their A level results! Check out the stories from both schools below.
Ashington Academy
It has been another fantastic A level results day at Ashington Academy, with students and staff celebrating a superb set of outcomes across both A level and Applied General qualifications. We are delighted to announce a 100% pass rate again, reflecting the hard work, commitment and resilience shown by our Year 13 students throughout their studies.
This year's results demonstrate the high levels of achievement across our Sixth Form, with 31% of all grades awarded at A/A* or equivalent, and 61% achieved at A*-B. Students taking A level qualifications performed exceptionally well, with 57% of grades awarded at A*-B, while those studying Applied General qualifications achieved outstanding success, with 93% of grades awarded at Distinction to Distinction*. These results reflect not only the dedication of our students, but also the unwavering support provided by families, teachers and support staff throughout their sixth form journey.
Many students have now secured their next steps and will be progressing to universities, higher-level apprenticeships, employment and training opportunities across the region and beyond, including Engineering at Sheffield University, Medicine at Lancaster University, and Sport Management at Loughborough University.

Bedlington Academy
We would like to say a huge congratulations to our sixth form Class of 2026 for their exceptional achievements and the hard work, determination, and resilience they have demonstrated throughout their studies. One in every two grades awarded this year is at a B or above, reflecting excellent progress across all subjects. Our students' success reflects not only their academic ability but also their commitment to achieving their goals, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
This year's results have enabled students to progress to a wide range of university courses and career pathways, demonstrating the breadth of talent across our sixth form. Among the many outstanding achievements, we would like to highlight the following students:

Daniel S achieved an exceptional A* in maths, A* in further maths, and A in physics. Daniel will be continuing his studies at Durham University, where he will read engineering.

Arran Hsecured an impressive A* in maths, A in biology, A in physics and B in further maths. He has earned a place at Durham University to study electronic engineering.

Leo R will be progressing to the University of Manchester to study biotechnology, following excellent results that have secured his place on this highly competitive course.

Alice P achieved three B grades in psychology, law and English and will be pursuing her ambition to study journalism at university.

Jess H achieved an A in biology, an A in chemistry and a C in physics. She will be studying biomedical science, building on her strong performance in the sciences.

Evan R achieved Distinction* in creative media and Distinctions in both sport and business, an outstanding set of results that reflects his dedication and versatility across a range of disciplines.

Matthew A secured two Distinctions and a Merit, enabling him to gain a place on a business course at Northumbria University.
These achievements are a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our students, the unwavering support of their families, and the commitment of our staff, who have worked tirelessly to help every student achieve their potential.
