Patterdale trip

Our A level geography students have just returned from three days in the Lake District after the return of our annual residential visit this year following the disruption of COVID-19 over the last academic year.

This visit has allowed us to get our fieldwork programme back on track which is an integral part of the A level course. Students spent three days in Patterdale developing skills required for their independent investigations which included a study of a river channel and a local rural economy. Of course, we also made sure there was time for some fun with a canoeing trip on Ullswater which ended with the majority of the group braving the icy waters for a cliff jump, a nighttime orienteering session in the dark and a walk up to see some fabulous views of Ullswater and Helvellyn.

All of the students were absolutely fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed their time away. We look forward to more fieldwork adventures and exciting geography soon!
